Who’s it for and what’s it about?

This one-­day course will provide staff members with the knowledge and understanding of how to manage the risk of Legionella. It has been designed and is moderated by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS).

The course is split into five modules which includes information on Legionella bacteria, Legionnaires’ disease, risk assessing and hot & cold water systems.

On successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate from REHIS.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Legal requirements
  • Approved codes of practice and guidance
  • Type of water systems that are at risk
  • How and why Legionella causes problems
  • Control of Legionella bacteria risks (L8)
  • Main conditions required for infection to take place
  • How to monitor and maintain records
