Corporate Governance event
Supporting a Committee/Board is essential for the well-being of a housing association or co-operative and for helping ensure good governance.
If this is a function you oversee, your main role or something you have been asked to take on, then this event is for you. You may also be a Committee/Board member and interested in coming along.
As someone involved in some way in supporting your Committee/Board, you have to keep up to date with everything that is going on with the Scottish Housing Regulator, arrange meetings, set up training sessions, get members to sign the Code of Conduct, help induct new Committee/Board members – and ensure good governance.
The list goes on...
This is year one of SHARE’s Corporate Governance event and it has been designed around what you told us matters to you. Alan Ferguson, Director, SHARE said “We look forward to welcoming George Walker, Chair of the Scottish Housing Regulator as our first plenary speaker. George will be speaking to delegates about the Regulator’s role, governance and providing an update on the regulatory framework.
The final presentation of the day, SHR engagement - a lived journey will be brought to you by Martin Wilkie-McFarlane, Director and Maureen Morris, Chair, Wellhouse Housing Association. This will be a really interesting, helpful and frank discussion about their own experiences, how staff can provide support and how they are moving forward.”
There is a variety of excellent speakers delivering workshops throughout the day. Workshops will be delivered over three sessions, giving delegates even more opportunities to attend and include, Servicing your Committee/Board; Supporting the Committee/Board on health, safety and equality and diversity; Finance – knowing the basics; Self-Assessment – what are we doing?; Succession planning – ensuring Committee/Board members step up; Communication – getting it right; Good governance in action; Know the Codes; Embracing an electronic future.
