Modern Apprenticeships - a great and beneficial experience
One of SHARE’s recent Modern Apprentices was Amber Beresford. Amber joined Shettleston Housing Association in April 2016 as a Modern Apprentice in Housing and SHARE was delighted to provide training and support. Amber successfully completed in April 2017.
Jannette Rawls recruited Amber to the post and said, “Having previously recruited Modern Apprentices at Shettleston Housing Association we were more than happy to look at this again in 2016. As we were going down the housing route we got in touch with SHARE.
SHARE was really happy to be part of the process and we contacted all the local secondary schools with a view to recruitment. I would have to say on this occasion the calibre of the candidates interviewed for this position was extremely high and we had a very difficult decision to make. Amber stood out and we offered her the position.
Working with SHARE was great as they dealt with all the funding arrangements from SDS and the qualifications and everything ran smoothly with Amber achieving her Modern Apprenticeship in Housing at Level 2 in one year. Amber has gone from strength to strength and now has a position as a Temporary Repairs Assistant with us, which she has settled into very well. We knew she was keen to make her career within housing so with her gaining this temporary post it was a win-win situation for us.
I would certainly recommend organisations consider taking on a Modern Apprentice and to work with SHARE through the process.”
Amber is really excited to have completed her qualification and have a new role with Shettleston Housing Association. Amber said, “I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to become a Modern Apprentice with Shettleston Housing Association in April 2016, which I grabbed with both hands.
I was based in the housing management team for a year, where I worked closely with the housing assistants, officers and the allocations team. I was also given the chance to study with SHARE where I successfully gained my SVQ Level 2 and CIH Level 2 in housing.
Due to my experience and knowledge, I was then able to apply for the job as a Repairs Assistant in Shettleston Housing Association and was successful. It has been a great experience and I would recommend it to everyone”.
SHARE are currently working with 13 Modern Apprentices, 11 working towards Housing at Level 2 and 2 working towards Business Administration at Level 2.
